Plot summary of The Forbidden Marriage
Lee Heon (Kim Young-Dae) is the king of the Joseon Dynasty. 7 years ago, when he was crown prince, his beloved wife passed away. To this day, he hasn’t been able to get over her death. For the past seven years, the royal family and members of the government have tried unsuccessfully to restart King Lee Hyun’s marriage. The nation also implemented the geumhonryung edict, a ban on all single women marrying during this time when the king did not marry. People are angry about banning marriage. One day, King Lee Hyun hears of a woman named Yi Soo-rang (Park Joo-hyun), who claims that the spirit of the king’s late wife resides inside the royal palace.
The series follows the story of King Lee Hyun, who issued a ban on marriage in Joseon after the death of his crown prince seven years ago, and the deceiver Soo Rang, who claims she can be possessed by the spirit of the late crown prince.
