The plot was set after the Japanese national team was eliminated from the 2018 World Cup, which prompted the country’s federation to start a training program to prepare a team of high school students, who will participate in the 2022 World Cup. The main character, Isagi Yoichi, who is a striker, receives an invitation to join this program after his team’s failed attempt to get to the Nationals, due to him passing the ball to a teammate who missed the kick, instead of scoring himself.
The training coordinator, Igo Jinbashi, intends to put an end to the notion of “weak soccer Japan” by implementing a new system, which involves isolating 300 young strikers in a prison-like institution called the “Blue Lock”. There they undergo rigorous training with the aim of increasing their individuality and creating the best striker in the world.

So Isagi tried to sit up, but his whole body hurt him. Noa said that he slept for 10 continuous hours. It was vertigo from exhaustion. Then Noa asked Isagi again if he wanted water or coffee. Isagi asked for water and Noa poured him some into a mug. Noa asked him how it was beating Kaiser then gave him the water. Isagi got some flashbacks of the game when he passed the ball to Yukimiya and grabbed Kaiser’s collar.
