According to Salamondra, Shanquella talked to her mother before dinner on Friday, the first night of her trip. “She told me they had a chef,” Salamondra said. “They were ready to eat. They were eating tacos or a salad or something, and I said, ‘OK. I love you. Good night, and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.’ But Salamondra never spoke to Shanquella again. Less than 24 hours later, her 25-year-old daughter was dead. And now she demands answers from the people who were with her.

According to a spokesperson for the accommodation, the holiday group arrived on Friday and called for medical help on Saturday afternoon. A concierge alerted a doctor, who gave Shanquella CPR but was unable to revive her. Less than 15 minutes later, the official time of death was declared at 3 p.m., Queen City News reports. But in the days since her daughter’s death, Salamondra said Shanquella’s friends have given her conflicting accounts of what happened to Shanquella. “They said she wasn’t feeling well,” she recalled. “They couldn’t get a pulse. Each of the people who were there with them told different stories.

In a report by local news station WBTV, Bernard and Salamondra Robinson last saw their daughter on October 28, the day she and some of her friends went to Cabo, Mexico for a vacation. Fast forward to almost a month later, and the parents still have no idea what really led to their 25-year-old daughter’s death.

As the Robinsons shared with WBTV, they were told by Shanquella’s friends that she died of alcohol poisoning after they came into contact with the parents the following Saturday after they arrived in Cabo.

“On Saturday night they called and said she wasn’t feeling well, and they were going to call a doctor,” Salamondra said. “And when they called, the doctor hadn’t arrived yet, but they said she had alcohol poisoning.”

However, after receiving an autopsy report after making calls to the FBI and the Mexican authorities, they realized that what led to her death was in contrast to what her friend had told them.

“After they said it was alcohol poisoning, we got the autopsy report on Thursday and it said her neck was broken and she had a spasm in her back, there was a crack, the spinal cord was crack,” said the parents “That took it to a whole ‘nother level because that meant someone had attacked her.”

Since Shanquella died in Mexico, national agencies became involved in the incident. However, in a statement to another news outlet, Queen City News, the US State Department in Mexico refuted the claim that Robinson killed, adding that there was no clear evidence of foul play according to police.

As news of Shanquella’s death has made its way to social media, so have theories about the incident. Some users believe it was one of the friends who killed her, with a video being shared allegedly showing her being beaten by one while another records the fight. According to a Rolling Stone report, the video was first published by a North Carolina blog and that it “identified several friends who they claimed were on the Cabo trip with Shanquella at the time of her death. “The report continues, mentioning how the blog identified a man who was present in the group named Namer Wiggins. Although Wiggins confirmed that he was part of the Cabo trip,

Shanquella can also be seen knocked to the floor and repeatedly punched in the head while trying to get away from her attacker.

“All I’ve been doing is just crying trying to figure out what happened,” Bernard Robinson said of his late daughter. “I can’t even be grandpa, can’t even walk her down the aisle, she’s gone.”

A representative for Villa Linda 32, the property where the group is staying, told WJZY that the concierge contacted a doctor who tried to revive Shanquella, but to no avail. She was pronounced dead at 3pm local time, about 15 minutes after she was struck.

A newly released autopsy report states that Robinson’s neck was broken. It also appears that coroners determined that her death could have been accidental or violent.
