The Today’s News-Herald reports Lake Havasu Unified School District officials confirmed Samantha Peer, an eighth-grade science teacher, was terminated on October 31. Her husband Dillon Peer, a fourth-grade teacher, was let go four days later.

The newspaper says Thunderbolt Middle School, where Peer taught, sent an email to parents on Monday informing them that students had shared material explicitly involving a staff member.

Samantha Peer was a science teacher at Thunderbolt Middle School until Oct. 31, when she shared her OF account on Instagram, which was discovered and subsequently shared by students. Her biography on the platform remains: “I also love a bitch at work.”

The Lake Havasu Unified School District issued the following statement to parents: “We have noticed students airdropping explicit materials. These photos were not taken during school days and the people in the photos no longer work for LHUSD. Please download from your child his cell phone.remove all images and discuss the appropriate use of technology with them.

Peer’s husband, Dillon Peer, a fourth-grade teacher at Nautilus Elementary School, was also fired on Nov. 4 after his alleged debut in the video. The Lake Havasu Police Department has not filed charges against any of them.

A teacher reported that Peer’s profile picture on OF used to be her profile picture in the school yearbook. The Washington Examiner has confirmed that this is no longer the case. Peer has remained active on the platform since being fired and continues to promote her profile on her Instagram account.

In a statement posted online Friday, Peer said she “regrets” making the video on campus, but said she was forced to start creating online content because of her low teaching salary.

Peer said she loved teaching science and claims none of her students were aware of the online content until after she resigned.

“I don’t believe my name should be smeared in the community when I made one mistake that didn’t affect anyone until other adults started giving kids access to my content,” Peer said Friday.

According to a report, the discovery of Peer’s explicit side gig was hardly the work of intensive digging into her private life, as all of Peer’s social media accounts under her real name (where some students follow her) advertise and link to her . She has also shared nude content for free on Twitter.

When Peer’s content began circulating among the school’s 7th and 8th graders, the Lake Havasu Unified School District sent out a memo to parents that read:

“It has come to our attention that students have been airdropping explicit material. The images did not happen during the school day and the person depicted no longer works for LHUSD. Please remove all images from your child’s phone and talk with them about the appropriate use of technology.”
