My Lovely Liar (Korean: 소용없어 거짓말) is an ongoing South Korean television series directed by Nam Sung-woo, starring Kim So-hyun and Hwang Min-hyun. It premiered on July 31, 2023, and airs on tvN every Monday and Tuesday at 20:50 (KST). It is also available for streaming on Viki and Viu in selected regions.
Mok Sol-Hee (Kim So-Hyun) has a special ability that allows her to distinguish. Whether people are lying or not. She hates her ability and views it as a curse. Because of her special ability, she is unable to trust anyone. Mok Sol-Hee gets involved with a murder suspect (Minhyun) who insists he is innocent, but nobody believes him.
Plot
Mok Sol Hee is a young woman with an extraordinary and supernatural ability: she is able to “hear” other people’s lies, no matter how hard they try to obfuscate the truth. But this superpower has left her jaded: She no longer has any faith in other people, and now considers them all to be morally bankrupt. But that all changes when she meets a successful music producer named Kim Do Ha.
Kim Do Ha has become embroiled in a murder case, and has gone into hiding. In the residence next door to Mok Sol Hee. The producer’s closest friend Jo Deuk Chan, the head of the talent agency J Entertainment. Which is the only person who knows Kim Do Ha’s secret. But Mok Sol Hee is in for a shock when she realizes that her new neighbor appears. To be the only person in the world her superpower does not work on. She becomes drawn to this mystery man—but will she ever learn the deepest secrets of his heart?
The series depicts the story of a woman who can’t trust people because of her ability to hear lies. And uncovers the truth while getting entangled with a murder suspect who no one believes in his innocence.
Main Cast and characters
- Kim So-hyun as Mok Sol-hee: a person who gave up her everyday happiness when she was young due to her ability to hear lies.
- Hwang Min-hyun as Kim Do-ha / Kim Seung-joo: a famous composer and producer in Korea who goes by the stage name “K”. He changed his name and went into hiding when he got related to an incident.
