Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 8 Recap
As the group takes off to Mud Boat Mountain, Reigen wonders why they chose this particular location. The boys explain that this place is said to see a UFO every seven years around this time, and the last time someone saw a UFO there happened seven years ago.
Tensions slowly build in the car as the group realizes they crossed the hiking trails a while ago, and no one bothered to say anything. Mob struggles with motion sickness in the front seat, which forces Reigen to pull over after he vomits. From there they decide to walk towards the hiking trails instead, returning to the car later.
mob and Shirihiko She disappears into the woods to use the bathroom while the others wait by car. When they seem to be taking too long, Reigen suggests that they all look for the missing boys together, as it is too dangerous for them to go it alone. Both groups wander the woods looking for each other, and when they finally find each other again, they realize they are lost. They can no longer set course, and worse, they have no reception either. as such Mamita He realizes he left the book on the UFO calls back in the car, and they wonder if they should go back down the mountain to try and find where they came from. Still, Reigen says it’s best to climb longer distances to try and get a better advantage.
Their struggle pays off when they encounter a trail. Tome wants to back off, but the others think they should at least try summoning a UFO because they are already here, and they put so much effort into this for her. Apparently becoming even more frustrated at the suggestion, Tome attempted to dissolve the Telepathy Club for this very reason. Her frustration boils to the surface when she digs into the other club members for dragging her here with lies about finding new telepaths. The further she gets, the more upset she gets, crying because she says they have no idea what it feels like to have their hopes trampled on.
Reigen tries to get them to continue climbing, but Tommy refuses. She only agrees to continue after Mob offers her her hand, though she does not take it. They reach the top of the mountain just before sunset, which is ideal since most UFO encounters happen around 5 p.m. While wondering how to go on without their book, Takenaka begins forming boulders into a circle and reciting an incantation, revealing that he has spent it all. The night is doing the research, which is why he is late so early. Tommy and the club are surprised at how serious this is, but he says he had to after seeing how serious they actually are.
Takenaka then reads Tomie’s mind, not only demonstrating her powers to her but revealing her fears of being forced into the group by her illusions. The other members of the Teleportation Club immediately begin to reassure her that these feelings are false and untrue. They all begin to attempt a UFO summoning ritual together, but something in Takenaka’s antics makes Reigen wonder if he’s hiding something. He reluctantly reveals that the author of the UFO book he’s referring to was arrested for fraud several years ago. Although there was no basis in the book, he didn’t want to tell them because he didn’t want to ruin an opportunity for the Teleportation Club to work together. Regen assures them that they should be proud of themselves and enjoy their experience together.
Just before they leave, Mob questions about reported UFO sightings. The group decided that since it had already happened, maybe it would be worth detouring a bit. The mob attempts to send a telepathic signal to see what will happen, and Tommy thanks him. Although Mob tries his best, nearly getting knocked out in the process, the boys are heartbroken when his efforts seem to be unsuccessful. Tommy tries to cheer them up by reminding them that there is still hope for alien contact in the future.
Just then, a giant green light appeared behind her, shocking everyone in the group. They start to panic, not sure how to proceed. The situation gets worse when human figures descend from the sky. The figures touch to reveal smooth skin, long limbs, and big eyes, just as Tommy expected. They reach out to shake, and despite her caution, Tommy accepts. The aliens invite the group to the ship, much to the boy’s excitement.
The aliens send them back to their ship, and they all end up enjoying the snacks together. The boys suggest that maybe Takenaka can translate between Tome and aliens, but she’s too nervous to think of anything, so Mameta suggests they play games instead.
Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 8 ends
The teleportation club and aliens hang out on the ship, playing everything from handheld video games to cards. They share drinks and food and talk to each other at the beginning of the new year.
Just before things wrap up to go home, the aliens give the group a gift as a token of their friendship. In return, each member of the group also grants an item to the aliens. They seem very happy with their earthly gifts despite how random they really are. Tommy then thanks the aliens for meeting up, hoping that they will be able to meet again.
The group returns to Earth just in time for the first sunrise of the new year. However, they realize that Mamita was accidentally left behind on the spaceship. From here, Mamita begins the novel. He hopes to convince the aliens to return him to Earth but is unable to communicate with them. Somehow, after killing their biggest enemy, he becomes like a hero to these aliens, even earning the favor of their queen. After an undisclosed amount of time, he finally manages to convince them to take him home, where he barely remembers anything.
While I wasn’t expecting a filler episode this week, this one definitely hit some intense emotional notes. With each arc ending, there is a sense of finality this season. It’s easy to know that the middle school chapters in Mob’s life are closing, which can be as painful as it is exciting. However, it was all emotional, as the last few minutes of the episode with Mameta’s unexpected twist were a lot of fun.
