Born on December 5, 1970, in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, she cherished her roots and held dear the memories of summers spent in Chimney Corner. After completing her Bachelor of Arts at Cape Breton University, Leanne pursued a Bachelor of Education at Western University, ultimately forging a profound and impactful career teaching high school English in Ontario. Later in life, she embraced writing and editing as her full-time vocation.

She is survived by her parents, Melin and Aileen Flynn, and her siblings Timmy (Amanda), Ryan, Maureen, Colleen (Gary), and Blaire (Steve). She held a special place in her heart for her dear friend, John Bury. On June 28th, 2023, she peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family. Leanne’s family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the palliative care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Her light may have dimmed, but her memory continues to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
