a description
Physical therapist Kim Dan has been down on his luck for as long as he can remember. Between an ailing grandmother, menacing loansharks, and an old boss making it almost impossible for him to find work, Dan is truly running out of options. Naturally, it feels like a dream come true when he’s finally hired to treat top-paid MMA fighter Joo Jaekyung, especially when the man then calls him out for a treatment the night before a match with an oh-so-tantalizing offer of five thousand dollars. He claims to have a “jinx” in need of a particular type of “treatment,” but it’s one that Dan isn’t quite prepared to offer… You see, Jaekyung may be a beast in the ring, but he’s even rougher in the bedroom, and Dan’s not sure he can survive Jaekyung at his most primal. Nevertheless, the promise of much-needed cash has Dan agreeing to this ill-fated deal… Could a night together be the thing to help Jaekyung break this jinx once and for all?

Even though there are only 6 seasons,  I feel like  I can kind of predict how that will play out. The categories on Lezhin also help. Jaekyung is a selfish and expected bastard but he is very handsome. He is used to getting his way, either with his fists and feet, or with his looks, or with money.

So we just know, based on that alone, that he’ll get to the point where he’ll enjoy it, and he’ll heal from his trauma so he can fall, physically at least, for Jaekyung.

So that the audience can learn about the power of choices and their effects, rather than change halfway to show that abuse can be overcome with perseverance. Not really the best message, but it can’t be helped. It’s a very common metaphor. At least Jaekyung from the start doesn’t seem completely unrecoverable, though that’s a good thing, even though her start is pretty awkward and not cute at all. I think I can see his silver lining. I’ll see how my gut feeling holds up. We’ll see, assuming I don’t drop it. Predictable = / = bad because even if you know the outcome, if the ride to the destination is fun, that’s totally fine.

It’s totally awful, toxic, and full of bad decisions. I absolutely love it. The art is great. The boys are deliciously expressive. Jaekyung is an empowered bastard (I want to see a break, Dan is the kind of wuss that might do the trick). Look forward to what comes our way. (And even if it doesn’t end the way I want it to, the idea is already in my mind.)
