Island (in Korean: 아일랜드; RR: Aillaendeu) is a South Korean popular series starring Kim Nam-gil, Lee Da-hee, Cha Eun-woo, and Sung John. The series started on TVING and Amazon Prime Video on December 30, 2022.
It’s based on a webcomic called “Island” written by Yoon In-Wan & illustrated by Yang Kyung-Il (published from May 11, 2016 to February 15, 2018, with Naver). Seo Yea-Ji was first offered the role lead female role, but declined it. Filming began in October 2021.
Synopsis of island drama
Set on Jeju Island, three people try to fight against evil that is trying to destroy the whole world.
Van (Kim Nam-Gil) was raised in order to protect the world against villains. He trained to become a weapon against. Van now fights against evil and kills victims who are controlled by evil. He doesn’t show emotion for his actions, but, within his mind, he feels guilty for doing that.
Won Mi-Ho (Lee Da-Hee) is from a family that has a large company. She causes big problems and went to Jeju Island, she works as a teacher there. She then gets in a strange case related to ghosts.
Johan (Cha Eun-Woo) is a Christian Catholic priest and he performs exorcisms. His noble aim is to protect life and purify evil in the world.
Goong-Tan (Sung Joon) and Ban were raised to beat evil. But due to an incident, Goong-Tan goes to the opposite of Ban.
