Unfortunately, these posters aren’t for an actual festival featuring basically every music artist in the world (both living and dead) — instead, these posters are the product of a new app that’s taking over social media as users eagerly await Spotify Wrapped 2022.

What is Instafest – how do I use it?

Instafest is an app created by USC student Anshay Saboo, and it works by creating a graphic that displays your most streamed artists on Spotify as if they were the lineup for your music festival.

Using Instafest is very easy for those looking to create their own music festival – but only if you listen to music on Spotify. instafest Apple Music users, this is not for you I’m afraid.

To be completely honest, the last few first times I passed thinking it was a real life fest . But after seeing them pop up all over the place, with wildly different formations, I was clicked. Yes, that was another Spotify thing.

The app was created by USC student  Anchai Saboo , who also created The Grades app, which helps high school students keep track of their grades and assignments and has been downloaded more than 200,000 times.

How to create your own ‘Instafest’ fake music festival lineup with your Spotify

  1. Go to the Instafest website at Instafest.app
  2. Click on the green button that says “Sign in with Spotify”
  3. Use your account credentials to sign in to your Spotify account
  4. Decide if you want to include the top artists from the past four weeks, the last six months, or the best artists of all time
  5. Choose the visual style you want for the poster.
  6. Choose a name for your fake festival
  7. Click the Save and Share button to download your automatically generated drawing and share it wherever you want

Instafest is a third-party app that links with your Spotify data to create a fantasy festival compilation featuring artists you’ve been listening to on your Spotify account. Apps like  Icebergify  and Festify do pretty much the same thing.

The main point of difference? Instafest looks really cool. It’s well designed and clean, mimicking the three day style of most major festivals. It also allows you to moderately customize the look and feel of the label.

The app was created by Anshay Saboo, a student at the University of Southern California, who has built a bunch of apps in the past, including one designed to help students keep track of their grades.

According  to his personal website , Anchai is a “passionate developer and entrepreneur” who “loves taking on creative challenges and creating products that have a measurable impact and improve the lives of others.”

“Ever since I wrote my first lines of code in an afterschool class during elementary school, I’ve been fascinated by the power programming gives us to create change,” Anchai explains on the website.

Anchai adds that he has experience developing and releasing apps on the App and Play Store, and has also developed several full-stack web apps.

Los Angeles-based app developer Anchai Saboo, a computer science student at the University of Southern California, created Instafest, which works with  people’s Spotify accounts .

Like  Spotify’s year-end feature wrapped in 2022 (a 2022 version is on the way ), Instafest relies on what you listen to on  Spotify , so an account is required to run the app.

First, you go to  Instafest.app , and then you sign in with Spotify. From there, you’re presented with a few options for designing your own music festival ad—”Malibu sunrise,” “LA Twilight,” and “Mojave dusk”; I think Coachella for the latter.

    Several times in the article is spelled as Anchai which is incorrect.
