Activate Your HPSM CareAdvantage Card

What is CareAdvantage and HPSM Medi-Cal members?

CareAdvantage is a unique health insurance program that offers a comprehensive and convenient plan to eligible HPSM Medi-Cal members. The program combines Medicare and Medi-Cal into one plan, offering extra benefits and covering copays, premiums, and deductibles for doctor and hospital visits, lab tests, chiropractor and acupuncture visits, and more.

Who is Eligible for CareAdvantage?

To join CareAdvantage, you must:

  • Live in San Mateo County
  • Have Medicare Parts A & B
  • Have full-scope Medi-Cal through the Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM)

HPSM Login and Help

You can log in to your HPSM account at hpsm.nationsbenefits.com/login or call the help line at 833-910-1826 (TTY: 711).

Activate Your CareAdvantage Card

Follow these steps to activate your CareAdvantage card:

  1. Visit hpsm.nationsbenefits.com or call 833-910-1826 (TTY: 711)
  2. Enter the 16-digit card number and expiration date of your Benefits Mastercard® Prepaid Card
  3. Enter your 12-digit member ID (contains 2 letters and 10 numbers)
  4. Enter your Date of Birth and Last Name provided to your health plan during enrollment
  5. Click on the “Activate Card” button to complete the activation process.

Use Your CareAdvantage Card

Once your card is activated, you can start using it at a participating retail location near you by simply swiping your card for payment. You can also access your benefits through the MyBenefits portal and app.
