GTA 6 leak showed us the future, now it’s hard to worry about GTA Online

Goat Simulator 3 developer Coffee Stain North ended up under the control of Grand Theft Auto publisher. Take-Two after running an ad for its open-world mayhem sim that used leaked footage from Grand Theft Auto 6. VI of this year.

The video has since been removed from video platforms after a copyright claim, but those who managed to watch the video before it was removed (thanks, Eurogamer) say the ad featured a character named Shaun, who he was being interviewed about working on Goat Simulator. 3 and bragging about his abilities to animate ragdoll physics.

Last year, images of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto, which is supposed to be GTA 6, leaked online. While Rockstar quickly tried to delete the videos from the internet and patch up the holes in the ship. It was impossible to completely contain such a massive and unprecedented leak. So fans around the world got a very good look at the future of Grand Theft Auto. And now it is difficult for me and others to return to the good old GTA Online.

Late on September 19, 2022, a hacker leaked online 90 short videos of early gameplay of what Rockstar would later confirm as the next GTA entry. The images revealed a lot about the next game in the popular open-world franchise, including the series’ return to Vice City, Florida, a fan-favorite location last seen in GTA: Vice City Stories, the prequel to the beloved PS2 Classic, GTA: Vice City. It also gave us a good look at the new protagonists of this upcoming crime adventure and some of the missions we might experience when GTA 6 finally released. Fans have even started mapping the game’s virtual world using the leaks.

However, the video took a turn when Shaun talked about the work he had done outside of Goat Simulator 3. To which he said: “I have other things in the works, other big game worlds. In fact, you can see  in some images that  leaked a couple of months ago. This was followed by an edited clip from the Grand Theft Auto VI leak. Take-Two clearly didn’t like this, and has since removed the offending video from the internet.

This was always the natural conclusion of things, and now the ad cannot even be seen anywhere posted by Coffee Stain North. That said, it wouldn’t be surprising if the studio had already foreseen this happening and was looking for a way to make Goat Simulator 3 have a bit of holiday zest. I mean, we’re writing about it here because it’s suddenly become newsworthy, right?

The game is just over a month old now, launching for PC, PlayStation 5. And Xbox Series X/S back in November, but outside of the sickest goat psychos, it hasn’t had much buzz around it. In the past, the series has referenced other games in its announcements. Such as the original Goat Simulator 3 announcement trailer that parodied the. Dead Island 2 announcement trailer back in June.

We’ve reached out to both Coffee Stain North and Take-Two for comment on the situation.

The Grand Theft Auto VI leak happened back in September, and it was an unprecedented. Early look at one of the most anticipated games in the medium.

Take-Two wasn’t thrilled, and were adamant about pulling as much of it as possible from the internet. Even going so far as to shut down social media responses. So people couldn’t share or discuss the leak on its social channels. We’ve combed through all the leaked footage and put together some juicy bits, which you can read about here.

Even though Grand Theft Auto VI hasn’t been officially revealed yet, it’s still leaking like a boat full of holes. The latest comes from the GTA 6 News & Leaks 2.0 Twitter account, which has posted a few screenshots from multiple sources that seem to indicate that GTA 6 is longer than first thought.

As reported by Games Radar, one of the screenshots links to a forum post from a Rockstar Games insider named Tez2, who said they’ve discovered multiple files named “bank release,” “beta,” and “debug” for the game. From there, Tex2 says bank release is a debug build that aims for “feature completeness,” while the beta version adds additional functionality and aims for “content completeness.”

The three files allegedly discovered by the Rockstar-focused Tez2 account.
If you are unfamiliar with these terms, Feature Complete basically means that the game has full user interface functionality and the core gameplay features are all present and playable.

Content completeness means that all game content is now present and playable, but it may be visually unrefined and contain many bugs or glitches. From the status of content completion. The development team generally begins the “polishing” phase. Which can take very different amounts of time depending on the size of the game and the work that needs to be done to bring it up to standard. The other two posts in the tweet show a Twitter user and developer backing the idea of what the feature and full content mean.

The notion that GTA 6 is already in the polishing phase goes against the game’s massive leak. That occurred in September 2022. With more than 90 videos of early development footage posted online. A lot of that footage looked very jagged and unfinished. But it seems more and more that those were from an early build of GTA 6. That simply don’t indicate where the game is now.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that even if a game is in the polish. That doesn’t necessarily mean it will be released “soon.” This leak could mean that GTA 6 is quite longer than recent reports suggest. But that could be the difference between a release in late 2024 versus 2025.
