Death Stranding 2 Release date trailer

After the sequel was confirmed by Normal Reedus earlier this year, Kojima Productions and PlayStation have officially announced Death Stranding 2.

At The Game Awards 2022, we got an extended look at the sequel, which featured Fragile. Most of the trailers showed Fragile being chased by an unknown assailant, and eventually, we got to see an older Sam Bridges, the protagonist from the original Death Stranding.

A sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding has been leaked and teased for the past few months, but the reveal of Kojima Productions’ next game is exciting – and, of course, very vague – because the sequel feels, in a way, even stranger than the original.

After the trailer was shown, Hideo Kojima appeared on stage to share more about the upcoming title, including how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the narrative. “After experiencing the epidemic, I rewrote everything from scratch,” Kojima said on stage.

Kojima was asked by Game Awards host Jeff Kelly how DS2 differs from the original Death Stranding, and the author was inherently wary.

“I can’t be really specific right now, but I put a lot of things inside [the trailer] so I want you guys to talk about it and find the details in it,” Kojima said through a translator.

When asked how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the sequel’s story, Kojima said. “I wrote the story before the pandemic, but after experiencing the pandemic, I rewrote everything from scratch. I also didn’t want to expect more from the future, so I rewrote it.”

The game stars Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, Troy Baker, Shiuli Kutsuna, and Elle Fanning. The game runs on the Decima engine, and is under development in collaboration with Guerrilla Games. For more information, check out the bizarre advert above.

Kojima’s latest project has been mocked for several months now. With Death Stranding’s director regularly tweeting cryptic images related to the project. Some of these first looks included photos of actresses Shioli Kutsuna and Elle Fanning. Wth the words “Where am I?” and “Who am I?” in the middle of those pictures.

Kojima also reconfirmed on stage at The Game Awards that he’s working on another game. At the same time as Death Stranding 2. This might be the new game for Xbox that’s been confirmed for a while.
