Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill (in Japanese: とんでもスキルで異世界放浪メシ, Hepburn: Tondemo Sukiru de Isekai Hōrō Meshi) is a Japanese anime series written by Ren Eguchi. The series originated on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō magazine in January 2016, before being published in print with illustrations by Masa by Overlap beginning in November 2016 under their Novels imprint. Also on December 2022, thirteen volumes have been released.

A manga adaptation, illustrated by Akagishi K, began serialization on the Comic Gardo website in March 2017. As of December 2022, the manga’s individual chapters have been collected into nine volumes. A manga spin-off, illustrated by Momo Futaba, began serialization on the same website in August 2018. As of December 2022, the spin-off’s individual chapters have been collected into seven volumes. An anime television series adaptation by MAPPA premiered in January 2023.

synopsis of anime

The anime, “The Demon King and the Online Supermarket” follows the story of four regular. Earth people who are unexpectedly summoned to the realm of Reijseger to help battle a powerful being known as “The Demon King”. Three of the summoned individuals possess special magical battle powers and are accepted as “Heroes”. But the fourth, Tsuyoshi Mukoda, has the unusual power of “Online Supermarket”.

Feeling out of place and unsure about the kingdom’s true intentions. Mukoda accepts a small sum of gold coins from the King of Reijseger and sets off to leave the realm. As he experiments with his ability, he discovers that he can access online menus of Japanese food and uses his newfound wealth to provide food and act as a cook for a band of adventurers on their journey to the Kingdom of Veenen. With the kingdom in turmoil and many trying to flee, Mukoda uses his unique ability to navigate the dangerous terrain and survive in a world filled with magic and monsters.
