Enter the 16-digit card number and expiration date, your 12-digit member ID, your Date of Birth, and Last Name provided to your health plan during enrollment. Then, click on the Activate Card button to activate your card.

Making Coverage Decisions at BlueKC

Blue KC determines coverage of new technology by verifying if the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association has an existing policy. If not, Blue KC performs research on the new technology by using scientific literature, technology reports, and government agencies, and by conferring with specialists in the Kansas City area. If there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of the new technology, it will be considered medically necessary. If not, the technology is considered investigational, and Blue KC will perform subsequent reviews to determine if it should be covered.
