This recap of Elite Season 6, Episode 4, “The War,” contains spoilers.
Do you know how I said that the damage done to the boys by the revenge mission of Isadora in elite Season 6, Episode 3 Sounded a little worse than what a marker could do? Well, I was right, because the word “rapist” is actually tattooed on their backs, not written. Oops. Either way, it’s an act of aggression that the boys demand in response, apparently not thinking that they started it by raping Isadora.

There are clearly contradictions in the way these two incidents were handled. Javi, Hugo and Alex panic at the thought of being violated and demand compensation, their accusations being taken at least halfway seriously, even though it is acknowledged that they need to be proven. But you can see why Isadora was so frustrated with her predicament. The irony is that they claim a tattoo that lasts forever is evidence of its severity as punishment as if sexual assault doesn’t last forever in some ways either.
Anyway, putting this aside for a moment, “War” primarily focuses on two subplots. The first is that Mencia continues to try to insert herself into Sara and Raoul’s relationship. Raul trolles Sarah’s social interactions and basically acts as her bodyguard at school, which hardly deflects suspicion, but makes it very difficult for Mencia to actually get close to her. The second subplot is Cruz’s first soccer game after going out into the world, which many characters attend. It goes well at first – there are rainbow flags in the stands, and Cruz gets a standing ovation, but when he raises the rainbow flag himself after scoring a goal, Raul and his friends throw so much homophobic abuse in his direction that a riot breaks out and the match is abandoned.
Raul’s presence in the match at least gives Mencia a chance to connect with Sara privately, where she’s able to relate her own experiences and remind Sara that there’s a big difference between love and fear. They even share a kiss. When Raoul returns home later, having been central to causing the riot and Bilal being bottled in the process, we are pleased to see that Sarah has emptied her wardrobe and left for a forgotten place.
But for Cruz, the riot follows him home. Of course, he was already receiving homophobic threats at home, which Patrick and Evan now know about, but he addresses the experience by snorting cocaine on his own while the boys go out for a drink. Evan gets completely lost and accidentally pushes Isadora, which leads her to find out more about how he was involved in her rape. Not knowing where else to turn, Patrick calls Cruz, but when he sets out to meet them, still a little worse for his wear, he gets into an altercation with three men who beat him to death on the side of the road. Evan and Patrick find him lying there, and then we start the funeral, which makes for one of the biggest developments of the season so far.
