Why did Arizona State University suspend its strike?

The Nigerian government was totally frustrated with ASU’s application, which is why it dragged the Federation to the National Industrial Court. 

In the September ruling, the court ordered union lecturers to return to classrooms and resume their work. But it didn’t work. The Confederation Court of Appeals allowed conditional permission for the Industrial Court’s order. 

However, in  October , ASU was ordered to resume classes as soon as possible. Following this order, ASUU suspended its eight-month strike. 

ASU intimidation about ” no work, no pay ” – it’s not normal yet

Arizona State University intimidated the government into skipping a backlog of classes that were halted by the strike. Many ASUU members argue that the no-work-without-pay policy should not be applied to them because they are clearing backlogs of work.

The president of ASU contacted parents and students to inform them of the things that happen after the suspension. 

He said, ” Since the court suspended their strike, they have been working hard and clearing backlogs. No lecturers in the world are treated as casual workers, and they are not satisfied with the federal government’s ‘ no work, no pay ‘ policy.”

During the period of their strike, they were performing all of their responsibilities of being lecturers except for teaching. And now, they’re doing the leftovers job right.

Moreover, He also asked parents and students not to watch this fight just for the sake of ASU. Besides, he also stated that if the government did not pay them for the strike period, they would abandon this work, which would eventually lead to the complete cancellation of the remaining work sessions.

If the government continues with this rule, they will resume their work as of  the 2022/2023  session  .”
