“We Heard You” – Retroid Pocket 6 Landing Page Pulled Following Complaints About Its “Ugly” Design

Barely two days have passed since Retroid revealed the Retroid Pocket 6 in a YouTube announcement, and it already looks like the company is about to make some changes to the device’s design following negative feedback from online commenters.

The pre-order landing page went live earlier this week on Monday, October 27, and shipping was expected to begin in early January. However, since then, there has been a lot of discussion online about the Retroid Pocket 6’s new design, with some commenters on Reddit and social media sites calling the device “ugly” and “a step backwards” from the look of the Retroid Pocket 5. This led Retroid to take the landing page offline and open a poll to solicit feedback on its design.

In particular, criticism seems to be aimed at the device’s “chin” or “lip,” which features a new control panel and a pair of built-in speakers, which some say “distract” from the screen and make it “look off-center and weird.” In addition to this, however, there has always been criticism regarding the placement of the D-Pad, leading to discussions about whether it would be better above or below the device’s left analog stick.

To find out the true extent of these opinions, the company is therefore asking potential customers on social media whether they should move the panel to the back and which layout they would prefer once pre-orders resume.

As some have noted, it’s a bit strange to want to change devices this late in the handheld’s development, but at the very least it shows that Retroid is willing to listen to feedback and address potential issues raised by members of its community.
