The episode begins with Daryl (Norman Reedus) washing up on the shores of France. Alone and malnourished, he traverses the desolate French coast in search of food and drink, finding only leftovers. Cities were plundered and destroyed. There are no signs of the living, and very few of the dead can handle them.
Although we don’t know exactly how Daryl ended up in France, he radios a message into the void, revealing that he “went out looking for something,” but inexplicably ended up here. We as viewers wonder how this happened, because the show looks forward, not backward. The last time we saw Daryl, he was riding away from Alexandria after saying goodbye to Carol and the rest of the group.
While exploring an abandoned factory, we see the first walkers in the series… but these aren’t just walkers. They appear to be variables. Although not as strong and powerful as the variants we’ve seen in the US, these French variants leave a burn on everyone they touch. Darryl has a really bad rash. We later learn that these walkers are called Brûlant (or Burning Walkers). It’s implied that there are other variants roaming around France; I can’t wait to see them!
Later, Daryl meets his first French people: Maribel and Guillaume. At first glance they seem friendly enough – trading supplies and such – but of course, in the world of The Walking Dead , no one can be trusted. Shortly after meeting them, they are ambushed by a group of warriors led by a brutal man named Codron (Roman Levy). The battle is intermittent. Daryl kills Michel, Codron’s brother, and is left with a wound to his neck. Instead of helping Daryl, Guillaume decides to knock him out and escape with his supplies

Fortunately, “L’ame Perdue” easily transports Daryl to France, and seems to make enemies wherever he goes.

The Walking Dead ended last year after 11 seasons, but it turns out the end wasn’t the end after all as it was announced that there will be a number of spin-offs of the popular apocalyptic zombie show . One of those spin-off shows is based on the popular character Daryl Dixon.
It would be all too easy to write off this new show and others as an obvious money grab, an unnecessary extension of The Walking Dead universe . However, Daryl Dixon is a complete revelation, breathing new life into a tired franchise. It felt different and had something new to say, as well as giving a fan-favorite character the chance to be properly fleshed out.
The show also looks very different from the original, partly due to its new location in France. But there’s still plenty to enjoy for long-time fans with walkers everywhere and plenty of badass Daryl one-liners and action sequences. But there’s an overwhelming feeling that this show could attract a whole new audience, looking for a different twist on the zombie apocalypse.
There’s a potential love interest for Daryl with the interesting character Isabelle, and a father-son dynamic with Laurent who’s similar to Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us .
