Pugsley is there to see Wednesday off to her new school and back with his family for Parents Weekend. During a therapy session, he talks about how much he misses his sister, and then his father Gomez (Luis Guzman) He was arrested. The siblings share one poignant moment later in the episode, as they discuss the family’s future. It looks like Gomez might be in for a kill, and Wednesday needs Pugsley to stay strong for the family. To make up for the emotional conversation, Pugsley throws grenades into the pond next to them to catch some fish. This perfectly sums up their relationship, endearing but mischievous.

In the Netflix original, Pugsley is a quiet character, who clearly has an emotional bent. He is a wallflower at school, and is constantly bullied and picked on. This is very different in ’90s movies, where Pugsley is seen as a sly, mischievous prankster, played by Jimmy Workman. Always blindly after his sister into trouble, this shy, immature young man is happy to go along with any of her sordid schemes without hesitation. This is an interesting contradiction, but Ordonez’s portrayal fits better with his father’s mood as well. Gomez is also a much quieter soul in the series than he is in the films.
How important is Pugsley Addams to Netflix Wednesday?
Pugsley is a minor character in the Netflix series, reduced to guest appearances rather than as a series regular. His goal is to end the family unit, but he rarely speaks or adds to the situation. There is only one major scene involving Pugsley Episode 5, “You Reap What Woe to You.” In this episode, he discusses the family’s future with Wednesday by the Lake. This is a sweet little moment for the siblings, one that signals a shared history and the potential for a much larger relationship in the future. Pugsley deserves a bigger role in a potential second season, as he may end up as a student at Nevermore, too.
